Main factors that affect electrostatic powder coating

Main factors that affect electrostatic powder coating

The factors affecting electrostatic powder coating

1. Powder size (30-50um)

The powder changes from large to small

Powder fluidity       gradually deteriorates

Coating property      from difficult to easy

Being blown away,    from difficulty to easy to fly

The clogging of the spray gun from difficult to easy to fly

Film thickness       from thick to thin

2. Powder conductivity (1010~1014  Ω·cm)

Below 109, the charged charge is easily released, and the powder particles are easy to fall off.

1010~1014 Good construction performance, the thick coating film can be obtained in this range

Above 1015, the particle charge is not easy to release, the surface of the workpiece accumulates charge, and the coating film cannot be obtained.

3. Spray voltage

When the spraying voltage is increased, the amount of powder adhesion increases, but when it exceeds 90kV, the rate of increase of the amount of adhesion becomes smaller, and the initial growth rate of the film thickness increases when the voltage increases, but the effect of voltage on the thickness of the coating increases as the spraying time increases.

As the spray distance increases, the effect of voltage on the film thickness decreases.

If the spray voltage is too high, the powder will break down and affect the quality of the powder.

Generally, the spraying voltage is controlled within 60 ~ 90kV.

4. Spray distance

The change in the spray distance causes a change in the electric field strength, which also affects the film thickness and the deposition efficiency of the powder. According to the situation, it is controlled between 150-300mm.

5. Air supply pressure

Try to keep the minimum required amount.
